The fluid mosaic model became proposed through S.J. Singer and Garth L. Nicolson. This version explains the shape of the plasma membrane of animal cells as a mosaic of components consisting of phospholipids, proteins, cholesterol, and carbohydrates. These additives deliver a fluid individual to the membranes.
